The Flatulator, modelled very loosely on Stephenson’s Rocket! Pedal powered and made out of all manner of odds and ends, including a copper hot water cylinder, some bicycle wheels, there’s a bird cage on the top. Accompanied by appropriate sounds no doubt fuelled by the container of brussels sprouts! Photo: Barrie C Woods

Wendy Martin sent in her photo and said “Thought the day was well organised and had a lovely time”.

Tram Sunday, or Fleetwood Festival of Transport to give it its proper name, took place on a sunny Sunday 15 July 2018. (Which was also the day of the World Cup Final, that England narrowly missed playing in, for the first time in years!)

As you can see from the photos, tens of thousands of people poured into Fleetwood to enjoy the biggest day out in the area.

Along with over 300 vehicles there were stalls, food vendors, fairground rides, and so much more, with something for all the family to see and do.

Did you see any of the performing artists, or have a go in the Virtual Reality Playground?

Fleetwood Festival of Transport, Tram Sunday SpareParts Festival Parade 2018

Tram Sunday started in 1985 to mark the Centenary of Blackpool Tramway. The year after was the 150th anniversary of Fleetwood, so what was intended to be a one-off event became an annual tradition – and the rest is history.

  1. Too many food stalls……not fair on local cafes and restaurants who pay £1000’s in rent, business rates, utilities, etc throughout the year.
On the 1 day of the year that locals could make more money (to help pay bills & overheads) you have allowed food stalls to operate right next to or opposite local restaurants/cafes……..it’s just not right!!!

    Very unhappy local business owner

Hi Debbie – you need to take this up with the organisers. Maybe take a stall outside yourself next year?

  2. Its once a year Debbie, chill out.
Our history is going down the pan as it is, mellow .

  3. first time I have been it seemed to be disjointed with stalls and rides spread over a large area hidden down side streets etc I missed the parade but given the 2 pictures on the web and a video of the parade which is just 3min long It doesn’t appear that I missed much although some of the costumes I saw where amazing but aren’t shown on the video or the photos I would have thought there would be a lot more especially if you want to promote and increase the popularity of Tram Sunday.

Hi Brian, there is so much to fit in at Tram Sunday that it has to cover the whole of the town. There are well over 100 photos on this page – they’re in a gallery so you need to swipe right/left to view them. We were there to enjoy the afternoon, so we photographed as much as we could. Hope that helps!
